What You Need To Know About The Grapefruit Diet

By Lee Reid

Obesity is an on going problem all over the world. As a result, many people feel uncomfortable with themselves and also end up with diseases like diabetes, heart disease, etc. The reason behind this sudden growth in obesity over the last few years is largely related to our daily diets.

In today s world, an average person s diet contains more sugars, carbohydrates and fats than it did some years back. All the canned and packed types of food can be blamed for this; due to the high content of additives and preservatives in them. In earlier times food was more healthy as it was made fresh using natural ingredients; times when most had more time to relax and did not spend most of their hours typing away behind a computer screen.

This realization has led to a large number of people developing healthier eating habits. These eating habits would include opting for a more balanced diet, knowing what ingredients go into certain food products and finally eating food that is organic. No artificial techniques are used in growing organic foods.

Dieting in general could mean anything. From counting the calories that one consumes to eating well balanced meals and regular exercise. However all diet plans have one main goal; to keep the body healthy, physically and mentally. Many diet plans include eating low amounts of carbohydrates, sugars and fats plus eating higher amounts of vegetables and fruits which have healthy quantities of vitamins and contain mostly dietary fiber.

A popular diet, which dates back to the 1930s, is the grapefruit diet. The grapefruit diet as its name indicates, involves the intake of grapefruit with each meal. It is consumed in either the form of grapefruit juice or half the grapefruit itself. The diet . The reason for this reduction of intake of other fruits and vegetables and increase in intake of fatty foods, in the grapefruit diet, is because of the belief that grapefruit contains a fat burning enzyme.

Generally, the results of those having tried the grapefruit diet, have been favorable. Researchers, however, say that the grapefruit diet is unhealthy and dangerous as it promotes the consumption of high fat foods which may lead to other complications, although this is not the view held by those who have tried the grapefruit diet. - 17274

A Cure For Clogged Pores

By John Andrews

Healthy Pores helps you have your best face on, due to its skin care system for you to cleanse and rejuvenate your skin with. You will look better than ever by using Healthy Pores, because this takes on aggravating acne that you just knew you were stuck with. Healthy Pores knows that some people are more likely to breakout with acne than some other people are, this is most likely due to hormones being over active. This product is made to be used with all types of skin, adults and teenagers too; the percentage of teenagers that get frequent acne breakouts is around 75%, but about 54% of female adults suffer from acne into their 40s. This is a system that has 3 parts to it that together help fight the breakouts.

The skin has basically 2 layers, the dermis is the living layer, and the epidermis is a layer that is thin, and contains the dead skin cells right at the surface of it. Oil getting in the middle of the two layers is what leads to blemishes. People with acne find that a regular exfoliant doesn't work to eliminate the skin cells that are dead as good as they need it done, and the answer isn't hard scrubbing either because that just spreads the bacteria and can cause scarring. Healthy Pores has a cleanser that has 2% salycilic acid, this helps exfoliate the dead skin cells very gently with modest pressure. For many years this acid has been utilized to cleanse the skin, and skin care experts haven't found anything better in all the years. It can be applied with water and soap when desired to give you a nice, clean tingling feeling.

Using Healthy Pores cream will help you in your fight to end acne. This cream destroys the bacteria. There is a natural oil in your skin called sebum. This oil is necessary for healthy skin, but in excessive amounts it can build up between the dermis and epidermis causing the clogging of pore and eventual acne breakout. Using Healthy Pores cream will fight the bacteria that breed in the clogging of the pores by the oil and preventing the spread of the bacteria and the acne breakout from all over the face. The Healthy Pores three part system has a base of natural ingredients used in this product. Tea tree oil, a natural ingredient and used in a similar way that salicylic acid is used in the cleanser, is in the cream of the system and destroys bacteria and leaves the skin soft not dried out. The cream if full of nutrients for the health of your skin.

The nutritional supplements of Healthy Pores is what really stands out in these products. Overactive hormones are the cause of acne and these hormones, during puberty, are known to be in overdrive during puberty, fertility cycles or changes in the weather or exposure to toxins. Its at this time that an abundance of sebum is produced and lodges between the layers of skin and causes the pores to clog. A nutritional supplement offered by Healthy Pores, all natural ingredient, help to balance the hormones, the body to detoxify and to clear the skin. And this is just one of the benefits of using Healthy Pores supplemental products. When you feel good you look good and visa versa.

Using all Healthy Pores products together will stop the acne breakout and clear your skin quickly. Some people have notice a remarkable improvement within one week, but as a rule around three week is when you will see the most improvement in your skin. There is a money back guarantee so that if you dont get the results you expected all you need to do is return the product and your purchase price will be refunded to you. Were so sure of our product and what do you have to lose, only acne! - 17274

Raw Food Diet for Natural Bodybuilding

By Ricardo d Argence

The ultimate goal of Natural bodybuilding is to build a strong body by combining an intense regimen of weight training and a natural, raw food diet full complete with all the nutrients your body is in great need of. The use of chemical enhancers and supplements are not only detrimental to your goal but not on the agenda of a natural bodybuilder. Just observing the nutrients in fruit alone is enough to convince you of the benefits and nutrients to your body.

There has been a debate on raw diets vs. cooked diets in the physical culture since the last five decades. Among natural bodybuilders, this debate still goes on. Some of the arguments are that you need meat protein to build muscle.

Protein is considered to be one of the most important nutrients in building muscle, so this diet will need to consist of huge amounts of protein rich foods. There are many body types, and your type will determine your intake of carbohydrates as well. Depending on your needs, you may require less carbs than others in the same program.

There are three main vegetables that are mandatory in the natural raw food bodybuilding diet and they are broccoli, cauliflower and dark greens including your dark leafy greens. When you are on a raw food diet for body building, it is important to space your meals out to 6 small meals and snacks throughout the day. This way your body is able to assimilate the nutrients on an ongoing basis throughout the day. A good snack in between your small meals is a banana due to the high potassium content.

The advantages for raw food diet for a bodybuilder are immeasurable. A raw food diet provides more lifting strength and you are able to have less rest time between sets. Vital nutrients such as enzymes, minerals and vitamins have been depleted from the foods through the cooking process.

Cooked foods are known to clog the body's digestive system which puts a strain and saps energy from other parts of your body. It takes a strong mind and will to be successful at a raw bodybuilding diet. Cooked foods blow up, or give an inflated look to muscles that only last for a temporary time. A foundation needs to be built for muscle to grow, and this can only be done with all natural proteins and carbs that are found in raw, uncooked foods.

Natural bodybuilders commonly consume at least one protein shake if they are on a bodybuilding diet of raw food, 1.5 hours before going to bed in the evening. Consistent and adequate sleep is exceedingly important for your health.

When bodybuilding research the benefits and advantages of a raw food diet versus a cooked food diet on this website. By keeping a diary that documents how your moods change with your raw food diet, you can discover which foods are helping you the most. - 17274

Is the Vince Delmonte Workout Worth Its Popularity?

By Caitlin Ryan

Have you seen Vince Delmonte's No Nonsense programs for fat loss, six-pack abs or muscle gain? They are quite popular, but why? What sets his program above the rest? There are hundreds of muscle-building programs available today, so why is Vince's program so hot?

Vince understands his target audience very well because he used to be one of them. He used to subscribe to the traditional bodybuilding programs that left his ectomorph body in sorry shape. There are three different types of bodies. There are endomorphs, mesomorphs and ectomorphs. Each body type needs a different method for building muscle or losing fat.

Skinny Vinny (as he used to be called) is an ectomorph. He used to have a very delicate build and could not gain any muscle mass no matter how often or hard he worked out. Even though his methods at the time helped others, they did not help him.

Fed up, he delved into studying body types and figuring out what would work for the skinny type ectomorph as well as the endomorph and mesomorph.

Mesomorphs tend to have nice builds, naturally. Traditional body building programs work well because these people develop muscle easily and lose weight easily. Women in this category tend to have hourglass shapes and men tend to have square shapes.

The soft bodied, chubby endomorphs can lose the fat and bulk up muscle mass to rid themselves of their round bodies. They will not feel frustrated with skimpy diets and lack of muscle gain that goes along with other fat loss programs.

So, how did Vince turn his skinny, ectomorph body into a well-defined, ripped body? He ate the right foods in the right combinations and worked out in such a way to continually challenge his muscles.

He learned long ago that high calorie shakes or diets only cause the ectomorph to gain fat. The right type of lean proteins combined with the right type of carbs helps the ectomorph build muscle mass rather than a bunch of fat around the middle.

Vince learned that endomorphs tend to eat too little when trying to lose weight and build body mass. What they really needed to do was eat foods in the right combination because too little food lowers metabolism and forces them to store more fat (something they do not need) and even rob lean body mass making it difficult to strengthen, firm and bulk muscles.

His muscle-building program is popular because it helps so many different body types. It is practically tailor-made.

Ectomorphs are able to gain lean body mass rather than a chubby gut. Mesomorphs can use the program and continue to build their physique. Endomorphs can lose the fat and feed the muscle. - 17274

Body Building For The Beginner

By Phil Jonathon

It is true that everyone has to start somewhere and this is fact for muscle building as well. While some people are striving to get fit, others are gearing up for serious competition. When someone is new to bodybuilding, they should look over these bodybuilding tips carefully.

The first course of action is to see a physician. It is important to make sure that the body is running properly and can handle the intense training of bodybuilding. Some people skip right over this step and assume that they can handle anything and eventually become ill or injured. This is one of the most important bodybuilding tips.

It can be tempting to head to the nearest gym and just get started working out. This is not the best idea. Anyone suggesting bodybuilding tips will strongly urge a beginner to meet with a personal trainer or find someone who is already training and see if they will partner up.

Once training has begun, it is important to take it slowly. Cardio is necessary to burn fat and can be done daily. Weight training is a different matter. While building muscle, the muscle tissue tears and repairs itself, but it needs time in between workouts to heal. This is how muscles get bigger and people become stronger. A personal trainer will likely cover bodybuilding tips like this as well.

Nutrition Bodybuilding Tips

Working out is only half of the bodybuilding experience. It is necessary to follow these bodybuilding tips on nutrition as well. Without the nutrition aspect, a person is only reaching a limited potential.

When it comes to bodybuilding tips and nutrition, it is important that everyone understands that protein is key. Protein helps build and repair muscle. This is essential to those who are taking bodybuilding seriously.

Meal replacement products are an excellent choice for those people who are looking to increase their intake of protein as well as other vital nutrients. Some of these meal replacements are intended solely for bodybuilders and cater to their exact needs. Most come in the form of shakes or snack bars. This helps take the guesswork out of the nutrition.

One of the most useful bodybuilding tips is to become vegetarian or even vegan. Many bodybuilders practice these lifestyles while training. It helps keep their nutrition in check. It is certainly not for everyone, but can aid in the bodybuilding process.
Each of these bodybuilding tips is helpful for the beginner. Once the beginner stage is passed, the individual will already likely be working with a professional trainer and well on his or her way to reaching peak performance! - 17274

Taking Body Building Supplements

By Emma Weaver

When most people think about body building drugs they automatically think about steroids. The western world has demonized steroids to the point that even talking about them will get other peoples attention. Everything that people ingest into their bodies has an effect from sugar to high fats and fatty oils.

These can also kill people but people still use them. Bodybuilding drugs are always going to be around and used. This is not to compare directly with fatty foods but it shows that some substances that are dangerous are still wanted by people. While it is very hard to legally get steroids for bodybuilding, anyone can go out and buy their favorite food that will also kill them. Why is one thing unlimited to the point that a person can buy as much as they want but steroid use will put people in prison for years?

The system might not seem equitable but it's still the system and it probably won't be changed anytime soon. Why do people take bodybuilding drugs when they are illegal? Many people who are into bodybuilding treat it as part of their life and not a hobby or something else.

At the very top levels of the sport are some very big guys that can stay ripped and seem to have more muscle than anyone should be able to find. Bodybuilding drugs are the answer for some. Most will deny any use of steroids and there isn't a way to know for sure unless a blood or urine sample is given.

Other Arguments For Bodybuilding Drugs

When people get hurt like in the lower back and the muscle doesn't heal quickly enough, the doctor will give out steroids that are taken for a certain cycle. If anyone knows someone who has MS they will also know that the doctor will prescribe steroids to help a person recover faster.

The person who bodybuilds for a living can't get steroids from a physician even if they have been injured during a work out. The difference is in the public perception of the different situations. There are many things in this country that are just plain weird but nobody can make a change now because it would be all over the media that steroids are now legal again.

Bodybuilding drugs can be dangerous especially when taken at doses way to high for an extended time. But there should be a place for them in the bodybuilding world. The reason they are banned isn't because they can harm, the reason is because people will always abuse the drugs. - 17274

It's Day 12...The Half Way Mark on My HCG Diet

By Amelia Handley

I've been reading more diet reviews. It makes me feel better about the things that are tough for me; because they're repeated over and over. One thing that I see repeated a lot in the diet reviews for HCG is that you should just try to stay home. The programs aren't very long so it's kind of feasible. And I absolutely agree that I'm much more likely to successfully complete the day if I am home when it's time to eat. It's my Day 12 on the diet. I'm in the midst of a 25 day program (homeopathic HCG through HCG Diet Direct). And I've got Lisa, a friend of mine, doing the diet with me simultaneously. We've got a side bet going to add some extra inspiration to do well! And I always like to win...

But I might not! I just had to say it once and now I'm going to go back to acting as if I'm totally going to win hands down. I've lost a ton of weight. I'm doing fine and I'm identifying pitfalls as they come so that I can avoid them.

The day started off the same as usual. I got up and weighed myself. I've done pretty well so far remembering to note down my weight daily. I went down one pound. And I'm always good with one pound down. I'm officially at 160. That means I've lost a total of 11 pounds in 12 days. I'm liking the sound of that.

I thought sticking to the diet would be easy once I started to lose weight. And while I like the weight loss and it makes me want to eat correctly...I wouldn't say it's easy. It's tough. I should have known I was thinking too optimistically; I mean I did read diet reviews that warned me. But it's helping me to identify "Do not enter" places. The first one I identified was the Mall Food Court. You already heard that story and I won't bore you by telling it again.

Today I identified another problem location: family parties. I went to my niece's birthday party. I took my HCG in the morning. I took my B-Total. I took my HCG again before I left for the party. It was supposed to be a barbeque lunch. So we didn't eat before we left. But as sometimes happens at family parties there were delays; barbeque lunch because barbeque dinner and I was STARVING!

That in itself is a problem. But the other problem was that they barbequed sausage and turkey legs (neither of which are okay for the HCG diet). They also had potato salad (a big unh-uh) and Caesar Salad (can there BE a more fattening green salad) and cake. I don't know why I assumed they'd have some grilled chicken. So long story short. I had a turkey leg. I had some potato salad. And I had some Caesar Salad. I did stay away from the cake. But that's such a small victory in comparison to the other concessions I made. I'm dreading getting on the scale tomorrow. I do not want to go up. I want to lose more weight than Lisa so she has to buy me a pair of jeans...I feel like I should get online and add to the number of diet reviews that points out this particular issue. But I guess I'll wait until the diet is complete so I can leave a review with all information disclosed at once. - 17274

Some Facts About Obesity

By Christopher Rom

Obesity can be a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent and can have a bad effect on your health. To define it you can use the body mass index which is the percentage of body fat and total body fat. A child's healthy weight varies with age and sex. A BMI greater than 95th percentile would be unhealthy. The data percentiles where based on a study from 1963 to 1994. BMI is calculated by dividing a persons mass by the square of his or her height, typically expressed either in metric or US "customary" units: Where lb is the subject's weight in pounds and in is the subject's height in inches.

Asian populations develop negative health consequences at a lower BMI than Caucasians, some nations have redefined obesity; the Japanese have defined obesity as any BMI greater than 25 while China uses a BMI of greater than 28. Effects on health. Being overweight can also be associated with various diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus type 2, obstructive sleep apnea, certain types of cancer, and osteoarthritis. Obesity has been found to reduce life expectancy. The lowest risk is found at a BMI of 25 to 27 and increases in both directions for men. For women the lowest risk is found at a BMI of 21 to 23 and increases in both directions.

Obesity is one of the leading causes of death worldwide that can be prevented. A large-scale American and European study have shown that the mortality risk is lowest with a BMI of 22.5-25 kg/m2 in non-smokers and at 24-27 kg/m2 in current smokers, with the risk increasing with changes in either direction. A BMI above 32 has been associated with a mortality rate among women over a 16-year period to be doubled. In the United States it is estimated to cause between 111,909 to 365,000 deaths a year, with approximately 1 million deaths in the European Union attributed to being overweight. Obesity can increases many physical and mental conditions. These common morbidities are most commonly shown in metabolic syndrome, a combination of medical disorders which includes: diabetes mellitus type 2, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and high triglyceride levels.

Complications are either directly or indirectly related through mechanisms sharing a common cause such as a poor diet or a non-exercising lifestyle. The link between obesity and specific conditions varies. One is the link with type 2 diabetes. Excess body fat underlies 64% of cases of diabetes in men and 77% of cases in women. Health consequences fall into two broad categories: those attributable to the effects of increased fat mass and those due to the increased number of fat cells. Elevated body fat alters your response to insulin, and can potentially lead to insulin resistance. Increased fat can also create an increase of thrombosis.

The negative health consequences of obesity are well supported by the available evidence, and in certain subgroups seem to be improved at an increased BMI, a phenomenon known as the obesity survival paradox. The paradox was first found in 1999 in overweight and obese people undergoing hemo-dialysis, also has been found in heart failure and peripheral artery disease (PAD).

With heart failure those with a BMI between 30.0-34.9 had lower mortality than those with a normal weight. This has been attributed to the fact that people often lose weight as they become ill. The same findings have been found in other types of heart disease. People with class I obesity and heart disease do not have an increase of heart problems as people of normal weight who also have heart disease. In people with greater stage of obesity the risk can increase. No increase in mortality is seen in the overweight and obese. One study found that the improved survival could be the more aggressive treatment an overweight person will receive after a cardiac event. Yet another states chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in those with PAD that the benefit of obesity no longer exists.

With a combination of excessive caloric intake and a lack of physical activity is thought to explain most cases of obesity. A limited number of cases are due primarily to genetics, medical reasons, or psychiatric illness. Increasing rates of obesity can be due to an easily accessible and palatable diet, increased reliance on cars, and mechanized manufacturing.Ten possible factors are: (1) insufficient sleep, (2) endocrine disruptors, (3) decreased variability in ambient temperature, (4) decreased smoking, because smoking suppresses appetite, (5) medications that can cause weight gain, (6) ethnic and age groups that tend to be heavier, (7) pregnancy at a later age can cause susceptibility to obesity in children, (8) risk factors passed on from generation, (9) and naturally higher BMI. Substantial evidence supporting the influence of these mechanisms on the increased prevalence of obesity is still inconclusive.

With the dietary energy supply varying between regions and countries. And has changed over time. The average calories available per person per day has increased all over the world except Eastern Europe. Nutritional guidelines have done little to address overeating and poor dietary choice. Between 1971 to 2000, obesity rates in the United States increased from 14.5% to 30.9%. Most of these extra calories came from an increase in carbohydrate consumption rather than fat consumption. The primary source of these extra carbohydrates are sweetened beverages, which now account for almost 25 percent of daily calories in young adults in America. Consumption of sweetened drinks can be a contributing factor in the rising rates of obesity.

The fast-food meals tripled and calorie intake from these meals quadrupled between 1977 and 1995. Agricultural policy and techniques in the United States and Europe have led to lower food prices. In the United States, subsidization of corn, soy, wheat, and rice through the U.S. farm bill has made the main sources of processed food cheap compared to fruits and vegetables. Under-reporting their food intake as compared to people of normal weight. This is supported both by tests and by direct observation.

Also obesity can be the result of genetic and environmental factors. Polymorphisms in various genes that control appetite and metabolism can pre-dispose a person to obesity when sufficient calories are present. The percentage of obesity attributed to genetics varies and is from 6% to 85%. Obesity is a major feature in several syndromes, such as Prader-Willi syndrome, Bardet-Biedl syndrome, Cohen syndrome, and MOMO syndrome. People with early-onset obesity which is an onset before 10 years of age and body mass index over three standard deviations above normal. Studies focused on inheritance patterns rather than specific genes have found that 80% of the offspring of two obese parents ended up obese, and less than 10% of the offspring of two parents who were of normal weight.

Certain ethnic groups may be more prone to obesity in an equivalent environment. An ability at periods of prosperity to store fat would be an advantage when food is readily availability, but would not be with a stable food supplies. The Pima Indians, who emerged from a desert environment, developed some of the highest rates of obesity when exposed to a Western lifestyle.

Certain physical, mental, and pharmaceutical substances can increase the risk of obesity. Medical illnesses that increase obesity risk include several genetic syndromes are: hypothyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, growth hormone deficiency, and the eating disorders: binge eating disorder and night eating syndrome. Obesity is not regarded as a psychiatric disorder, and is not listed as a psychiatric illness. Certain medications can cause weight gain and/or changes in your body's composition; which include insulin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, atypical anti-psychotics, antidepressants, steroids, certain anti-convulsants, pizotifen, and some forms of hormonal contraception.

The correlation between social class and BMI varies globally. In developed countries women of a higher social class were less likely to be obese. No difference was seen among men of different social classes. Among developed countries the levels of adult obesity, and percentage of teenage children who are overweight, are associated with income inequality. A similarity is seen in the US: more adults, even in higher social classes, are obese in more unequal states. Stress and perceived low social status appear to increase risk of obesity. A woman's risk can increase by 7% per child, while a man's risk increases by 4% per child. This could be partly due to the fact that having dependent children decreases physical activity in Western parents. - 17274

Shaking Up Muscle Building Recipes

By Karen Ilich

You've watched the ads for protein shakes, whether you wanted to or not. They're everywhere - in print, on billboards and in our email in box. "Drink this and get RIPPED!" Perhaps you've winced when the boxer or weightlifter in a movie drinks raw eggs. Is that it with bodybuilding recipes? Shakes and raw eggs? Definitely not.

The Variety Of Protein

You want protein to help build muscle. You also need to eat a lot more calories than the average person because you are burning so much energy making muscles. One of the key ingredients in bodybuilding recipes is protein and more protein. And not only will your intake of meat, beans, milk and eggs rise, but you want lean pieces cooked healthily so you don't gain fat as well as protein. So, you can't just slam down cheeseburgers all day. You still need variety, less fats and less carbohydrates, and to take your vitamins as well.

And you don't have to be strictly carnivorous. Tofu is loaded with protein - and the extra soft kind makes great shakes and pie filling. Even the veggie burgers available in your local supermarket will give you the protein you need, as well as variety to keep eating interesting. And for vegan bodybuilders, soy milk can be substituted for cow's milk.

This Ain't Julia Child

There are many websites and publications specializing in easy to make, high-protein bodybuilding recipes. There are also many health, fitness and bodybuilding magazines that can point you in the right direction. Don't be afraid to try new spices and herbs in your bodybuilding recipes. They don't add anything to your diet except taste.

With each meal, you are aiming for at least 25-30 grams of protein. Try to avoid saturated fats as much as possible. For example, you could fry in olive oil rather than butter or margarine. And try broiling rather than frying up everything. Try also to avoid heavily coated foods, like fried chicken. There's just too much fat in it.

And if you do wish to stick to protein shakes and raw eggs for your diet, there are health and cooking websites and books that can help you master your blender so you don't have to keep drinking the same eggy shake over and over again.

Before You Do Anything Else

Although you might be hungry to start training for the Mr. Universe title after reading about bodybuilding recipes, don't start without talking to your doctor. You have to be checked out to see if your body can adapt to bodybuilding, let alone the bodybuilding recipes. - 17274

* 8fl oz/225ml buttermilk or live yoghurt

* 2 tsp soft brown sugar

* 1 level tsp bicarbonate soda

How To Make:

1. Pre-heat your oven to 445F/230C. Grease a baking sheet with the lard or oil.

2. Sift the flour, bicarbonate of soda and the salt into the bowl, then add in the sugar.

3. Mix the buttermilk or yoghurt in with a wooden spoon. Then kneed it into a dough with your hands, until it's firm and soft. If it feels too sticky or wet, just add more flour into the mix.

4. Gently kneed the dough for approximately 30 seconds or until it becomes smooth. Then shape it into a deep ball shape. Place it on the greased baking sheet and then cut a deep X into the top using a knife. This allows the bread to expand as the soda begins to work.

5. Place the dough into the oven and cook for approximately 12 minutes. Then reduce the heat to 200C/400F and bake for a further 15 to 20 minutes. Once it's ready, the bottom of the bread should sound hollow when tapped.

6. Leave to cool for about 15 minutes before you serve it. - 17274
