White flours and sugars all contain simple carbs. Whole grains are complex carbs and are harder for your body to process. Your body has to work hard to digest complex carbs and they have a longer lasting effect on your body as an energy source.

There is not one conclusive answer to, Is cinnamon good for type 2 diabetes. But the key to controlling your health is keeping your diet healthy.
