Treadmill Mat May Be the Most Important Accessory

By Matt Traylor

Once you have spent so much on a treadmill, and whether you packed it with features and add-ons or not, there is a huge list of available accessories you can buy to make your treadmill even shinier. But beyond all the bells and whistles that you may or may not want, there are a few to consider that will actually help the lifespan of your machine as well as the performance.

The first thing you may want to consider buying is a home repair kit for your treadmill. This will be handy for minor problems you may encounter with your new toy and will save you from having to spend the time and money visiting a repair shop.

The limitation to a home repair kit is that it cannot fix the major problems that will require a professional. It is only good for small problems that most self-proclaimed handy person can do at home. The good news is that most treadmills will come with sufficient warranty to cover most major problems such as parts replacement or repair.

To keep the treadmill functioning at its best, you want to keep it as clean as possible especially in and around the moving parts. Keeping your treadmill properly cleaned will do wonders to avoiding certain problems.

A cleaning kit specially packaged for treadmills is available and typically comes with a brush and application wand, as well as the required cleaning solution. There will also be some form of instruction manual on how to do some routine maintenance cleaning.

As with any motor, lubrication is an important part of protecting and maintaining the motor. Your treadmill will run into motor problems early if it is not properly lubricated. Lack of proper care is the leading reason that most motors will die or suffer serious problems before they should.

One of the most important accessories that some would say is a must more than it is an option is a treadmill mat. The mat goes underneath your treadmill to protect junk such as motor lube from messing with your floor or carpet. The mat will also catch any unwanted loose carpet fibers and ground dust from going upward into your treadmill whenever it is in use.

There is also a treadmill cover that goes over the treadmill when it is not in use. This is not as important because the purpose it serves is really keeping dust off the top of the treadmill. It is more important to keep dust from going up and inside the motor by putting the treadmill on a mat.

There are all kinds of things you can spend money on regardless if it even remotely relates to your treadmill or not. But there are some that really would improve your treadmill and is worth the money. Such as the treadmill mat that cushions it from the ground. These things are worth considering. - 17274
