Recipes For Those Who May Have Food Allergies

By Chris Channing

Finding the means of living a normal life after finding out about a food allergy can be tough. In knowing several different recipes for every occasion, you can still eat the way you want, when you want. The task becomes to learn about what you can do and what you can't when it comes to the kitchen.

Not being able to consume gluten makes it hard to eat quite a few foods. Even still, you can enjoy a BBQ all the same. Go online or to a local allergen-free store to find specially created hot dogs that can be grilled. You may also find hot dog buns in the same manner, allowing you to enjoy an outdoor occasion even despite not being able to consume things commonly found in BBQ foods.

Dairy products go into most baked goods, meaning if you are lactose intolerant, you will have a hard time being able to enjoy the majority of baked goods you used to consume. Even still, you can have tasty biscuits, donuts, and even cake by substituting milk with several different ingredients. Things such as vanilla, vinegar, and sugar can mix together to make a viable substitute.

Even with a wheat allergy, you can still enjoy the taste of grains like your normally would. In using ingredients such as potato-starch flour and baking powder, along with a bit of milk and butter, one can make simple biscuit mix. You should spice up the biscuits with a bit of flavor- perhaps butter or a bit of honey and jam.

Oddly enough, we can have trail mix even while having a nut allergy. Substituting peanuts and other types of nuts with granola, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds can make the same type of mix only devoid of nutty flavor. You can also include raisins, yogurt, and dried fruits to help spruce up the mix to be as authentic as possible. In all, not including the shopping, this won't even take five minutes to setup and start enjoying.

Generally your best bet is to become keen on how to substitute different ingredients for another. Other times you may just need to go to an allergy-free store in your local area or online and buy products outright, that are already prepared to be consumed in a safe manner. Whatever the case, you shouldn't feel like a prisoner to your food allergen- because you can still consume foods you love.

In Conclusion

Allergies are tough at first, but knowing your options and solutions will make the process much easier. If you want some creative ideas, you should look into buying an allergy cookbook, that lists tips and tricks for making any meal even with allergies. - 17274
