If you ever spend any amount of time in front of the TV after midnight, you are bound to see some infomercials. A good portion of those are probably promoting ab related products. You'll see machines, pills, fad diets, and workouts that promise to give you that six pack of your dreams. While there is no shortage of theories, do any of them really work?

People move on to the next breakthrough invention once the vast majority of fads do not last very long and are exposed for not working as they say. Is there a way to get flat abs if these fail?

The truth is, the best way to get a six pack is with a time tested approach. You might not want to hear this, but the best way to achieve this goal is through a healthy diet and exercise. There really aren't any legitimate shortcuts to getting the body of your dreams. If you do find a way to drop a few pounds quickly, the weight will probably come back just as quickly.

After deciding to do exercises, you need to decide what kinds of exercises are suitable for your requirements. It is not like you join the bandwagon and start doing exercise like crazy. Getting on the treadmill and doing hours of cardio are what most people believe. However, this is a common misconception as well. Weight training and interval training are the best methods to lose weight the fastest. If you undergo weight training, you will burn more calories, not just during your workout but all the time.

When your muscles start to develop they will be like little incinerators that are always burning calories in order to replenish themselves. This will decrease the amount of time that it takes you to burn fat. In addition to weight training, mixing in a short burst sprinting workout in is a good idea as well.

The healthy way to lose weight is exercise and eating well. Cramming your face full of nachos and beer wont get you a six pack! Getting different results in your life requires you to take different actions. In order to obtain a six pack the first thing you need to change is what you eat. You should drink a lot of water and eat healthy foods. If you are in the habit of putting good things into your body, your body will thank you.
