Diabetes Prevention Info

By Jake Ryan

It is possible to reverse or prevent the development of type two diabetes. You should be aware that there are many diabetes preventions that you can avail yourself of. If you think that you may be at risk, the first thing you will want to do is do a pre diabetes screening. You can do this online, however the best option is to speak with your family physician.

One of the first signs of diabetes is having high blood sugar levels. When you have high blood sugar you should change your diet, exercise more, try to relax, and take medication if necessary. If you catch this condition in a pre-diabetes state it is possible to not get full on diabetes.

One of the reasons that many people are getting diabetes is because of the terrible american diets. They are high in sugar and carbohydrates and high levels of carbs turn into sugar. The pancreas then has to work a lot harder to create the necessary insulin to deal with the sugar. Additionally, the poor eating habits can cause obesity and it is a leading factor of diabetes.

Some recent research is also pointing to a link between obesity and type two diabetes. In a study done at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine it was found that obese mice had an over abundance of a hormone called resitin. These same mice were unable to transport glucose efficiently. When given a drug to lower the resistance, the mice resumed their glucose transportation. These drugs are not available as of yet and human testing is still some time in the future. That does not mean that there is not another way to combat increasing resistans. Exercise is the magic bullet that for many has turned back the tide of diabetes.

Exercise causes the body to use more glucose which causes your blood sugar levels to drop. Studies have found that walking just 30 minutes a day will cause you to lose weight. These are great diabetes preventions.

If you are whats considered a boarder line diabetic a doctor will give you medication to help reduce insulin levels. Conditions vary so make sure you talk to your physician for these treatments and preventions. - 17274
