Why is a Healthy Energy Drink Useful?

By Julieanne van Zyl

Why would people opt for the more popular power drink, instead of a healthy power drink? In the quest for increased energy levels, many users have opted for the speedy solution that may have nominal benefits but long-term side effects - energy drinks. Energy drinks which are frequently loaded up with caffeine and sugar among numerous other ingredients and spirit boosting compounds are used to increase the power levels of folks who train in the gym or even the ordinary man who just has desires of increasing his stamina and endurance on the job.

For some individuals , they require power drinks because of the ability to help them enhance their concentration and alertness on the job. Whatever the wants are, power drinks are good when taken in moderate quantities. But when it becomes the "solution" to tiredness and bodily weaknesses, which are a result of hard work, then there is a dilemma.

Energy drinks are not meant to keep you awake or to help you keep pushing to the limit. They are meant to give you the increased energy levels that you need so that you can stay a little longer at your task and finish it up. When taken in moderate quantities, there isn't any likely chance of it becoming dangerous.

But when taken in excess quantities, it can cause side effects like irritability, insomnia and tachycardia - increased pulse rate- that are common with excessive coffee intake. Energy drinks are not meant to provide the one stop solution to frequent tiredness and bodily weakness. Drinking a healthy energy drink, getting enough rest and eating well can easily solve these problems.

Can I Keep Taking Energy Drinks For Increased Stamina?

Numerous times fitness buffs will take energy drinks just to keep them going when training or just to provide them the advantage they want when they do not feel like training. Energy drinks which are very common and trendy these days as a consequence of the media exposure they have had and the supposed "miracle" solutions with promises of instant energy and strength, has become the favorite drink of many.

While energy drinks are excellent for the short-term effects they do present, it is not good to take them long-term mostly because of their components. One of the very popular ingredients found in all energy drinks is caffeine. While a few may argue that the sugar based energy drinks provide a lot more boost, it has been demonstrated that the caffeine is the major component accountable for the concentration improvement and hyperactivity.

But as with caffeine, an increased usage of these energy drinks will give you diminishing returns and increased dependence on the energy drink. This will cause the exact opposite of the results you are looking for. Most frequent users of energy drinks become addicted to it as a result of the caffeine content available in the drink.

So, whatever the reason for taking energy drinks, let them be used as a supplement or support of a healthy lifestyle for balanced results. There is always the option of taking a healthy energy drink too, especially if it is really a nutritional supplement with an energy blend. - 17274
