Getting Healthy using a Fruit Juicer

By Nick Jaggs

The easiest way for you to get one of your five servings of fruit and vegetables recommended each day is by drinking juice made from them. You may not realize it but one glass of freshly squeezed orange juice will improve your health and increase your energy levels as well. You can if you want purchase juice which has already been squeezed and packaged, but the best way is to actually buy one of the many good fruit juicers available and instead squeeze it yourself.

Although fruit juice is good for you, it is crucial that you don't drink too many with high levels of fruit sugar in them as this can adversely affect your blood sugar levels. Anyone who suffers from diabetes needs to be wary of such foods as drinking such juice allows the sugar in them to enter their blood stream more quickly and this may in turn lead to their blood sugar levels increasing which could prove detrimental to their health.

When it comes to buying fruit juicers as you will soon discover there are a number of different kinds to select from. The more simple types are the manual press or twin press or you can go for the centrifugal, centrifugal injection, masticating, single auger or dual cage auger one.

The most popular juicer that people tend to purchase when buying one of these and the one that has been on the market the longest is the centrifugal type. Not only are they simple in design but are very easy to use and it is the centrifugal force which helps to extract the juice from the fruit pulp which is forced against a shredder and strainer. However, there are some people who prefer the centrifugal injection models instead. Although they look like the centrifugal type juicer the sides of these are more slanted and cleaning proves a lot easier.

The other type of juicer which is now proving extremely popular is the masticating type. These instead of shredding the pulp chew it to extract the juice and you will discover that the juice made from this contains far less of the fruits pulp in it. Also they run at a lower speed than the centrifugal types so tend to make much less noise.

When you are thinking of purchasing a new fruit juicer for your home there are certain things that you need to be taken into consideration as well as the cost. Below we look at just what these considerations are.

1. The first thing to consider is how easy the juicer is to operate and clean. The more compact models tend to be very simple to use and with most models these days the juice holder is removable and can then be cleaned. Look for those models where the removable components can be placed in a dishwasher after use to be cleaned. 2. Although the branded models tend to cost more they are also the more reliable types of fruit juicers you can buy. Plus if any parts need to be replaced on them in the future getting them shouldn't prove too much of a problem. 3. Finally you should look at what speed the juicer works and if you can go for those that have a very low speed as this will prevent too much oxidation taking place when the juice is being extracted. So what you are in fact getting is more juice than air in what you are going to be drinking.

Above we have looked at what kinds of fruit juicers are available for you to buy and the things to look for when purchasing one. Remember to keep the above mentioned factors in mind and you should find fruit juicers that not only provide you with plenty of fresh juice but which are affordable as well. - 17274
